"The flapping of the wings of a butterfly can be felt on the other side of the world.” In this workshop, we will explore this concept as our characters set off the unlikeliest of consequences and experience the most serendipitous of connections in the most indifferent of universes.
As we as social beings interact with the world around us, and it is with us, who can really know how one thing might lead to a seemingly almost random–but not quite–other? Come explore the connections we can make–both intentional and inadvertent–as we live out our lives, send ripple effects out into the world, and get rippled ourselves.
Hazel graduated from the National University of Singapore with a B.A. in Theatre Studies and since then, has devoted her energies to the creation of a thriving, sustainable improv community in Singapore. Hazel has had extensive experience coaching and directing local improv troupes and international performances. Such teams include the long-running cast of ‘The Play’, in which she trained in the craft of solid, narrative-focused long-form improv.
Hazel is also an accomplished scripted theatre director with critically acclaimed shows as part of WILD RICE’s residency program for emerging theatre directors, at Gateway Theatre, and in performing arts festivals such as The Twenty-something Theatre Festival, Lit Up Singapore, and the NUS Arts Festival.
Participants should know how to construct a solid standalone improv scene (not short-form) in order to be ready for this workshop.
