This workshop is for the improvisers who tend to get stuck thinking things like “My idea is stupid”, or “I wouldn't know what to do”, and are happy when they think “Now I'm going to walk in and do this super mega original thing”. This is the Improv Winner mentality: not wanting to fail, wanting to impress.
With this workshop, we will pick this apart and play with the opposite approach: taking all the pressure off, walking in a scene when it needs it as opposed to when we have a good idea, bringing the tiniest of offers, or even nothing; and we will see how even the smallest contribution can eventually shine with beauty.
I am a professional improviser, director, author, and actor from Italy, currently based in Belgium, where I am the founder and Artistic Director of Impro Brussels and the Brussels Shuffle, respectively Belgium’s largest English-speaking Improv school and Brussels’ first international anglophone Improv Festival.
My Improv journey started in Italy in 2006, alongside my studies in writing and storytelling, and it has since become my full-time profession. After working all around Italy, in 2017 I moved to Brussels.
My storytelling, directing, and writing background help me develop improv tools in areas like narrative, characters, and improvising in different genres. Over the years, I trained improvisers from their first years in the craft to their professional formats, to mentoring them in their journey to becoming teachers themselves.
Suitable for improvisers with basic experience.
