There are two aspects to Impro: Spirit and Technique. This workshop will focus on “Spirit".
The keywords are vulnerable and playfulness. When you can expose yourself and play with yourself, your audience will love you.
The clown is the one who is laughed at, the little child that exists inside of you all, who needs to be loved. That child is scared, shy, and reluctant to be in front of the audience. But if you have the courage to expose it, you will see a view that has never been seen before.
Oshow is an improviser who pursues improvisational performance, an acting coach who trains actors to be free and playful, and an occasional actor who performs scripted plays.
He began theater in high school and English theater in college, performing as the main cast in children's plays, Shakespearean productions, and Broadway musical productions.
He encountered Impro and became obsessed with it. Then he founded Japan's first student Impro group, “Gekidan Shiomusubi,” and began performing and teaching Impro. He was especially active in learning Impro from Keith Johnstone, working with the Loose Moose Theater he founded, and trained with world-class improvisers Shawn Kinley, Patti Stiles, and Steve Jaland.
He also studied clowning and masks, and after working as a high school math teacher and apprentice bondage master, he has performed and taught in 14 countries around the world, exploring and practicing his own unique artistic expression.
Currently based in Tokyo, he occasionally travels abroad, performing and teaching somewhere in the world every week.
This workshop welcomes all levels of experience.
