Nothing hooks an audience more than the way characters relate to one another. So, how do we make a scene about ‘the relationship’? We’ll hone our ability to create emotional connections and depth in the moment, using only what is right in front of us, no matter who or what characters our scene partners play. We will identify how we feel at any given moment, catch and call out how our characters are treated by others (and vice versa), get personal, and discover each other’s shared histories.
By identifying how moments make you feel and how you and your partner are treating each other, your scene will be able to scream, "I'm in a Relationship!"
Javi /Havi/ puts budget-friendly food on the table as an English Arts and Language Teacher and puts brain-healthy food into the soul as an Improv actor, teacher, and coach. His love for storytelling guides his improv, and he enjoys discovering the hearts of scenes--the characters, what they care about, and how they feel, view, and interact with the people and world around them.
He has coached a 'teleserye' improv team (Filipino soap opera), a fantasy group, and occasionally volunteers to lead the practices of his international paranormal soap opera team. Javi /Havi/ has taught his workshop on making scenes about the emotional relationship between characters to improvisers from the Philippines, Malaysia, US, Australia, and more!
This workshop is suitable for improvisers with at least 6 months of experience.
