UNFOCUS your Long Form: Use the tools, don’t let them use YOU!
WHO’S AFRAID OF LONG FORM? Long Form Improv can actually be easy and fun, and often more substantial and rewarding than the short-form comedy-based games that many feel are ‘safer.’ But for many, Long Form feels thinky with effort – remembering formats and structures and all the various threads they hope to pull together… causing many to seek the comfort of working for the tools, when the tools are there to work for you.
In this workshop, you WON’T learn a long-form structure, but you WILL learn Curt’s favorite tools for long-form improv theater work, with inspiration as wide-ranging as Meal preparation, Wild West Cowboys, DJs, Opthamology, Archaeology, and David Mamet.
You’ll explore tools for Grounding your Base Reality, Character-Driven Relationship-Based scenes, Editing, Discovering (not ‘finding’) and Playing Game of the Scene, Object and Space Work, Scene Painting, and more – and more importantly, how to use the tools with a wider, unfocused approach.
